Dr. Glenn Orlin


Dr. Glenn Orlin, a Montgomery County native (Wheaton HS, Class of 1969), recently retired after a 39-year career with Montgomery County Government, 35 years of which for the County Council, including a 24-year stint as the County Council’s Deputy Staff Director. During his time at the Council, he also led the Council’s review of the Capital Improvements Program, the Growth Policy, and infrastructure financing. He is currently an Associate with O'Connell and Lawrence, Inc., an engineering firm based in Olney, and he serves on the Transportation Advisory Committee to the St. Mary's County Board of Commissioners. He also was the Treasurer of Laura Stewart’s successful campaign for the Board of Education.


Dr. Orlin earned a B.A. from Oberlin College, and he holds a Master in Regional Planning from the University of North Carolina, a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University, and a Ph.D. from George Washington University.  He and his wife of 51 years split their time among homes in Bethesda, Lexington Park, and London. In his spare time, he is a member of the Network of Ballpark Collectors, having attended major and minor league baseball games in 450+ ballparks in the US, Canada, and Japan, and has seen football (i.e., soccer) matches in 100+ venues in England and Wales.
